Olja Simčič Jerele (SI, 1999) is a photography graduate of VIST - Faculty of Applied Sciences. She is currently in her second year of the Photography Master's program at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. Besides her commercial photography practice which includes fashion and other editorials, she is currently working as a curator and program coordinator at DobraVaga Gallery (Ljubljana).
In recent years, she has participated in several solo and group exhibitions both at home and abroad. Her artistic practice explores the materiality and indexicality of the photographic medium and its strong connection to collective and individual memory. Her work is morbid yet soft, often based on photographic theory and expressed through a lens of personal experience. She works primarily with analog techniques, often complementing them with textual interventions.
